Birth Your Creative Project Series

Conversations With Creators

I interview all kinds of artists, creatives, writers, musicians, entrepreneurs, and makers to find out about how they birth their creative projects. The interviews are all on my IGTV channel here and also on my YouTube channel.

Grace Gelder

Photographer

First up, hear how photographer Grace Gelder birthed her creative project “Belongings”, now a book and soon to be an exhibition, and how it took her from a memory of her grandmother’s quilt while on a treadmill in a London gym to a remote village in Lapland and then a city in India.

We explore Grace’s creative process, talk about testing out ideas in the world before they’re are ready, discuss how our own projects sometimes come to fruition and sometimes do not, and share the time when Grace dressed up as one of my ideas and represented the spirit of my former not for profit, Eyeshine, in a blue sparkly dress and a wand!

Lydia Catterall

Artist & Collaborator

Meet artist and collaborative facilitator Lydia Catterall and hear all about how she birthed her own creative resilience workshops and the art of generous collaboration.

She shares creative curveballs, campfire conversations and creative provocations in a practise that supports artists of all kinds - and how she had an epiphany about the magic of concrete as a way to embrace the good and the bad with equal acceptance and wonder. (Seriously. It’s quite an epiphany.)

Chris Redmond

Poet, Performer & Founder of Tongue Fu

Chris Redmond is a poet, performer, and founder of the truly brilliant Tongue Fu, the best-spoken word night around. Tongue Fu has been on stages from the Albert Hall to the South Bank, had its own digital TV series at the BBC, headlined all the festivals and hosted performances from talents such as Kate Tempest, Akala, Lemn Sissay and John Hegley.

Chris has also used the tools in this course to birth a creative project in the form of the Tongue Fu album, out soon.

In fact, he used the meditation that is in this very course to connect with the spirit that is the driving force behind Tongue Fu - and even wrote an incredible track inspired by it.
